ITI to ink Flexi-MoUs Joint venture with stakeholders for skill development in Isles

  The Secretary (Labour, Employment & Training), Shri Ramesh Verma had a meeting with the delegates of Andaman & Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and various eminent stake holders / local businessmen at ITI, Dollygunj to address the specific skill requirement of these Islands by joint venture with industry. Shri Grish Arora, President, ACCI also attended the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary stated that apart from the existing sectors, other potential sectors also require skilled manpower like tourism, hospitality, automotive, shipping and marine etc. Due to non-availability of the required training infrastructure in these potential sectors, the training can be imparted through signing Flexi-MoUs with the concerned stake holders, he said. 
  The Secretary further mentioned that the ITI, Dollygunj intent to initiate the process of joining hands with the nearest Industries of relative sector through Flexi-MoUs for training in the specific needs of the industries.
   In first phase, courses will be offered in the sector of automotive, hospitality, travel and tourism, based on Modular Employable Skill (MES) training under Skill Development Initiative Scheme (SDIS) though said joint venture. 
   In first instance all the participant unanimously supported the proposed initiative for skill development of specific needs of the industry. ITI, Dollygunj shall engage trainers for theoretical training and practical training will be conducted at work site of concerned stake holders. Candidates will be enrolled through Kaushal Mela. The stake holders agreed to provide a formal stipend and a dress code for the trainees during their training by the stake holders. 
    The Secretary also emphasized the need for close Interaction between Institute and Industries to understand the needs of each other.
   Earlier, Shri Venketesh.Ch., Principal, ITI, Dollygunj welcomed the gathering. He presented a power point presentation of various existing and future skill development activities of these Islands and needs of joint venture for skill development. He proposes to enter into MoUs between ITI and industry to conduct training program to meet the specific manpower requirement of the industry with high employment potential specially designed courses according to the needs of local industry with National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) certification.  The Principal also briefed about the modalities for conduct of the Modular Employable training by defining the roles of Institute and Industries. 
    The meeting was also attended by Shri Madhu Sudan Baidya, Labour Commissioner & DET, a communication said.
