LG to inaugurate state level sanitation & cleanliness campaign today

 The Govt. of India will be organising and observing a nationwide sanitation and cleanliness campaign from Sept. 25 to Oct. 11, 2015, at State, District and Gram Panchayat levels to give momentum to the ongoing 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyan'.

Accordingly, the Lt. Governor, Lt. Gen AK Singh (Retd) will inaugurate the State Level Campaign at 7 am at Netaji Club tomorrow (Sept. 25). This programme will be organised by the Port Blair Municipal Council along with other stakeholders.

Similarly, the PBMC and APWD will take up cleaning of water bodies on Sept. 26, 2015. Cleaning of tourist spots and beaches will be taken up by the Tourism Department and Andaman & Nicobar Tour Operator Association on Sept. 27, 2015.   Various other programmes and cleanliness drives will be conducted till Oct. 11, 2015, by different Departments organizations. A valedictory programme is scheduled to be held on Oct. 11, 2015.
