Special Sessoins on map reading held for Police trainees

For the first time, the Police Training School, A&N Islands introduced special session of 'map reading' for the newly recruited trainees at PTS, Prothrapur recently, as the Police personnel are being deployed at various strategical location around the A&N Islands, wherein they have to face many challenges while performing duties and surviving themselves in these islands. Keeping in mind, PTS, Prothrapur has taken an initiative to provide some basics of Map Reading to the trainees at the initial stage under the overall supervision of Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, Principal, PTS.
The main highlights of the course were objectives and aim of Map Reading, the importance of Map Reading for a Police officer, basic knowledge about the features like, conventional signs, land marks, etc., to find the actual position of a man (Day & Night Time) and limitations, basic idea/knowledge of survival in case of loss of the way, methods to find the directions, etc. Apart from above topics, the faculty member also shared real stories/instances of survivors, during the session. The session was coordinated by SI T. Hemavathi and Head Constable CH Joga Rao, IRBn.
