Pre-Monsoon rain lashes many parts of North India

Delayed by a week, the monsoon is raining down heavily in vast areas of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Apart from these southern states, it has covered the entire North-East as well. The progress of the South-West monsoon has slowed down the past few days. Conditions have not been conducive for its inland movement and it is stuck at Karnataka's Karvar and Gadag as well Andhra's Angol. 

The met department has said that conditions have taken a turn for the better for Maharashtra and Central India. The monsoon is likely to cross these areas in the next 3-4 days. It will become completely active in Goa and South India during this period. The next 2 to 3 days will see it covering Central Arabian Sea, Konkan-Goa, South Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada. The met department has said that delay in advance is unlikely to have any effect on the overall impact of the monsoon. Pre-monsoon rains have already been lashing most parts of Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. 

In several parts of Punjab & Haryana, pre-monsoon rains have been accompanied by drops in day and night temperatures. It rained on Wednesday night in Chandigarh with clear skies after sunrise. Ambala, Karnal, Panchkula, Hisar, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra saw rains in Haryana. Among the hill states, pre-monsoon rains have been drenching Himachal Pradesh. There were heavy showers in Shimla and Mandi and several others parts have also been soaked since Tuesday night. Several districts of Uttar Pradesh have also seen drop in temperatures followed  by rains.
